Although I use Camtasia myself infrequently, and certainly recommend it, the Windows Media Encoder also includes a screen capture utility, and it's a free download. I'm sure I tried it out long ago and don't recall any particular problem with it, but for the price it's worth a try before you spend the money on Camtasia, unless you intend to do a lot of screen capturing on a regular basis.
