>Is there any point in using the CineForm Aspect HD CODEC with Adobe Pro
2.0? All their sales literature says you still should use it, but of
course they want another $200 for an upgrade to support Pro 2.0.

Cineform does offer real-time capabilites that go far beyond what you get
with Premiere Pro 2:

Aspect HD version 4.0 is now available with support for both Adobe Premiere
Pro 2 and Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5.1. Although Premiere Pro 2 now supports
editing of "native" HDV transport streams, Adobe and CineForm remain strong
business partners because Aspect HD offers substantial workflow and feature
advantages beyond those available in Premiere Pro 2. Please note the
following about Aspect HD v4.0 compared to the native offering inside
Premiere Pro:

    * Camera Support:
          o Premiere Pro 2 offers limited camera support for 720p30 and
1080i50/i60 modes only. Notice in particular the absence of support for 24p
or 25p, plus special modes that are part of all new HDV camcorders.

          o Aspect HD supports 1280x720: p24/p25/p30/p60 plus 1440x1080:
i50/i60/p24/p25/p30. In short, all HDV cameras are supported including
their "special" modes such as Canon's "24F" and Sony's "CineFrame".

    * Performance:
          o Adobe's minimum spec for native HDV editing is a 3.4GHz P4, and
with that you'll get about one stream.

          o Using Aspect HD on the same hardware you'll get three 1080i
streams in real-time plus transitions, color, motion and titles - all
without rendering. The efficiency of Aspect HD translates to many, many
dollars saved in post.
