I have to agree with Jorge about the Music Bakery. I have a large
number of their tracks, and I think they have some of the best produced
royalty free music available. I have listened to many different
offerings, and I always go back to a selection from the Music Bakery (I
majored in music, and so I'm a little picky). There are other good ones
out there as well, and many that are cheaper. One good thing about the
Music Bakery is you can buy and download a single track, however this
can be very expensive as last time I checked, single tracks are $40 and
up! a whole CD from them is around $120, I think (it's been awhile),
and you get 12 tracks or so from that. For what you describe, a track
that comes to mind, that I have used in the past is called "Children's
Garden" look for that on their site, they have full length samples on
their site.
Another site to look into is FreePlayMusic.com which I learned about
from this group. The biggest issue is that they are not royalty free,
however you can download mp3's at no cost, you just have to pay a fee to
use them in a production. You can also buy Cds for $60 ea. or their
entire collection for $800, but you still have to pay the royalties, so
just download what you need, if the mp3 is good enough quality for you,
that is. The costs of using their music is not bad, depending on what
kind of production you're doing, and they do give discounts for
religious and non-profit use. I think the regular fees start at $25 per
song, so this can actually be cheaper than buying from one of the
royalty free companies. As far as quality of freeplay... I have to say
that it sounds like they used a lot of synth strings and what not,
instead of acoustic instruments. I don't care for their orchestral
stuff too much, but some of there other styles are quite good, including
a couple CD's worth of solo Piano which may be what you're looking for.
The worst part about choosing music for me; the time it takes to listen
to it all! There is not enough time in the day!
Regards,
Andrew
