You are 95% right!  :)

A CDDA is basically a .wav file burnt--but burnt to a CD audio disc, not 
CD-ROM. You have to tell Nero that you are burning a music CD, and not a 
CD-ROM. It burns it differently.

I can demux to a .wav file and Nero burn to a CD-ROM and have
