Eddy,
Depends on your goals, your audience, and what your audience wants to view your
work on. DVX is a standard def camera, but shooting in 16:9 creates anamorphic
widescreen and would look squished when seen on a 4:3 TV. Shooting 16:9 and
editing in widescreen would cater to the HDTV crowd....would appear as
widescreen standard def. It would fit the 16:9 aspect ratio of HDTV's (would
appear not squished), but wouldn't have near the resolution and clarity of
actual HD footage.
My guess is you're safest shooting in 4:3 unless aiming specifically for
audiences with EDTVs or HDTVs.
But to answer your question, Premiere can edit in either 16:9 or 4:3, but you
have to choose one or the other for the project settings....can't have both in
the same project.
Shooting 16:9 in a standard def (SD) camera optically squishes things for the
purpose of unsquishing them on a 16:9 TV. It doesn't give you more resolution
or anything....your CCD in the camera doesn't/can't change; your clarity and
resolution doesn't change.

Subject: [AP] Premiere Pro 1.5 16:9 or 4:3
Hello,
I am shooting with a Panasonic Pro AG-DVX100B for editing in Adobe
Premiere Pro 1.5. What format is better to shoot with, 16:9 or 4:3? Which would
work better in Premiere 1.5?
Thanks,
Eddy
