Ernest,

The trick to editing non-standard type of videos is to convert them to a type
that Premiere likes. By default, Premiere will not open and play DVDs and VCDs.
There are free applications on the internet that will convert these movies to
type-2 AVI files. Those are the AVIs that Premiere likes. (Preferably DV
codec.) I always use DVD Shrink, but there are dozens of freebies available.

Subject: [AP] Why can't I edit DVDs or VCDs?

  Hi all,

I am a new user of Adobe Premier and I have been trying to edit some
DVDs and VCDs, with no avail. Could anyone please ofer me a solution? The
editing has to be done for a formal meeting soon so I have to hurry!

       Thanks a lot.

  Best regards
  Ernest Leung
