For optimum results your should be using a Dual Core processor and XP PRO with at least 2GB Ram. In today's market that is not that expensive and the results will be flawless transfer from Cam to computer. You might have to buy an after-market firewire cable or USB (Depending on the camera)from Best Buy or such to connect the cam to the computer port. The Camera information will tell you what kind of cable you need if it is not supplied with the camera. DEFINITLY go with the Mini-DV!!
