have you tried hj-split? it's free and will allow you to split the file into smaller chunks which can be placed on multiple discs without compressing, then they can be re-joined with hj-join.

Use any utility which allows to split binary files to chunks. Look at http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Best/big-file-split.html or any other site. Later you can easily glue them back even without any software, using command prompt (Windows): copy /B /V part1.avi+part2.avi result.avi If you use Mac, you can use any shell provided to do the same. 2. Use any archiver which lets split resulting archive file to chunks of spcified size. I love winrar, you can disable compression and force it to create parts of any specified size. And this is only one of available options. May be, free 7-zip can also do this, I do not remember. There are also some recovery options available with archivers, but it is better to make 2 copies of media from different vendors.
