John, I have a DV500 installed in my production PC...originally with Win 2K & Premiere 6.5 also However, I've since partitioned my system drive to boot three versions of Windows (XP sp2, 2K sp4 & ME) because of requirements of compatibilities issues with different app software I like to use. I too prefer premiere 6.5 over Pro, but that said, I still have too use XP with most of my apps (particularly Protools, Avid Xpress & Premiere Pro et al) I find that the firewire capabilities of the DV500 works fine on XP (using the windows driver) & I can still us the Pinnacle DVtools program to capture analog video. (though not able to capture within Premiere...it hasn't been a problem). Hope this helps.
