No, unfortunately you have to add a color clip. However, you can easily add
a new video track as the first track in your sequence, so it's not like you
are losing any existing tracks.
 
Also, because the geek in me can't avoid mentioning this -- the background
color is not truly black. It's really "empty" in the way that outer space
appears "black" because it is empty. (Except for all the quantum foam and
dark matter!)   
 
Okay, however, yes. I'll admit, it appears black, so for all practical
purposes it's black... but let's call it
"black-with-a-not-really-asterisk-mark."

Subject: [AP] Default background color in PPro.v2 ?



Is there a setting to change the default background color in a video 
project? 

Meaning ... if I have a video/image clip that does not fill the entire 
screen, I would like to have the background be some color other than 
black.

I know I could put a color clip in an underlying track, but, I'd rather 
not use up a video track for that effect.

If PPro.v2 has some type of project setting for this, I am unable to 
find it.
