That's the mystery for me: why? What is it that controls when the text actually starts crawling in? I tried all the things in the roll/crawl box, but they seem to be different parameters not affecting this. There is exactly one thing I have found that seems to have some influence, maybe, on when the text starts crawling in: that long text has to be "parked" somewhere, and it seems like it may depend on where you position it along the screen. For example, if it is a very long text (which is will inevitably be), it seems like it might make a difference if I position, say, the beginning of the text in the middle of the screen, or the middle of the text in the middle of the screen, or the end of the text in the middle of the screen. Indeed it does seem to make some kind of difference as to when the text starts marching in from the side. But it seems also like a kind of arbitrary way to control it. So my question to anybody who might be interested in enlightening me on this is: What is it that controls when the text enters from the side; what fundamental principle have I perhaps missed that is key to understanding it?
