Here is an option:

Sabrent USB 2.0 to IDE Cable for 2.5-Inch / 3.5-Inch / 5.25-Inch Drive with
Power Adapter

Just pull the hard drive out and see if the data is still accessible. If it
is copy it over to another drive. Good luck.

Thanks John, I've tried that but still not working.
I did realize that most of the data recovery companies
cater to businesses with deep pockets but not for home
personal users that has little money.

I'll continue to research.

Have you tried putting the drive on another usb device or plug it directly
into the computer? Sometimes just some settings might have to change. And if
usb can't recognize it, putting the drive as 2ndary might work.

Maybe get a second opinion or do some research on the net searching data
recovery.
I am not as expert as the people you consulted but it seems a little on the
high side to me.

All,

I am at a quandry. I dropped my USB drive and now my computer does not
recognize it. This drive is for personal use that contain family photos and
videos and would hate to lose them completely.

I did not realize how expensive the cost is to recover data if it is
recoverable at all, they say that it will cost $2000 to recover if the data
is recoverable at all.

Does anyone have any advice?
