I have had the very same thing happen. One thing that fixed it for me was to reduce the size of the jpg file. I was using them at the size they came right from the camera, and they were mucho megapixels. When I brought the size down to about 1,024 x 820 pixels, they worked fine.
Hope this helps, Jean ----- Original Message ----- From: greenmyjeepis To: [email protected] Sent: Friday, November 09, 2007 11:45 AM Subject: [AP] a disappearing trick, brought to you by premiere cs3... Hello Everyone! a friend of mine is having some difficulties with the latest version of Premiere, and tho we troubleshot, I feel that the solution to this problem is far beyond my knowledge. Here it is: On his timeline are various pics and video. When he was working on the project before (yesterday), there were no issues. Today, however, a couple of the jpeg images appear to be just black clips. While, this isn't true (we check the Adobe Bridge, and sure enough, they do really exist) we're not sure how to force Premiere to "see" them.
