I used OnLocation to capture footage from my Sony HVR-A1U camcorder
in playback mode through a FireWire cable. As far as I know a
camcorder in playback mode looks exactly like a deck to the computer
running OnLocation, so I'm 99% sure you can capture footage from a
deck using OnLocation.
The bonus is that the captured footage doesn't have any of the
audio/video sync problems in Premiere Pro CS3 that PP-CS3-captured
footage does.
