I recently bought a Beachtek DXA and finally got to use it for a
project Thursday night. I used it with my Sony HDR-SR8 Handycam, an
Azden wireless clip-on mike in the AUX (right) jack, and a Sennheiser
Shotgun Mic in the left jack.
Canon creates an M2TS file that cannot be imported into Adobe Premiere
Pro CS3 so I uses Nero to create an AVI-DV file to import into
Premiere. The audio is perfect with the clip-on getting the
performer's voice into my right headphone and the shotgun picking up
other participants' voices into my left headphone, so I do have two
discreet and independent channels. But Premiere Pro CS3 plays both
tracks together... and the L R choices in the audio track are grayed
out.
So I separated the left and right tracks in Premiere using Audio
Options>Breakout To Mono, but even though I get a left track and a
right track, they each play the two channels together.
Then I used the Sony Picture Motion Browser to convert the original
file into an MPG-2 file, but when I tried to break that into two tracks
with Premiere Pro CS3 the Break Out To Mono choice as grayed out.
Is it even possible to separate the two tracks with the Sony Handycam
or do I need a DV camcorder to do that?
