I know nothing about television release but I understand that single-layer Blu-Ray uses MPEG-2 (dual layer uses H.264 which offers much higher compression at only a slightly deteriorated quality), so my question is: do television systems have a Blu-Ray capability? Premiere/Encore supposedly handle Blu-Ray just fine.

I'm using a new dual core laptop with 3 gig of RAM with a Sony V1U camera. My question is what can I do to output to a hidef format for possible television release?
