OK, you are zeroing in on clean playbacks -

A. In my case, all the project files are 1920x1080 HD, and all the
previews look OK, but the literature states that previews may be at a lower
resolution.

B. When camera files are imported and ultimately put into sequences,
they playback within PP cleanly from the source window or a sequence
(timeline) window. There is no red "render" line on these raw files.

C. As files get edited, nested, possible transitions, etc., some of the
timeline sequences won't play very well. When that happens I'll do the
render thing, after which it will play smoothly.

D. But, sometimes I'll cut something out of a target sequence (not a
multi) and suddenly its audio may drop out and back in. Rendering a sequence
that exhibits choppy audio will not correct the audio problem. The only
solution I have discovered to fix a choppy audio is to close PP and reload
PP, then the audio will play just fine. (This makes me suspect there is a
memory utilization issue and by closing and reloading PP, the use of memory
is reorganized, thus allowing the audio to play smoothly.)

E. All of this is done from within PP CS3, thus external video players
such as Windows Media Player or QT are not an issue.

F. I'll export all the finished timelines using Adobe Media Encoder
with the files high-def parameters. Intermediate files are created but these
files are never played back by anything. It is possible to choose to export
other file formats that can be played back by WMP but I have no need for
those. You might. (If you do, ensure the file format and codec used is
compatible with what WMP can process.)

G. All of these timelines plus other resource files are imported into
Encore. Encore will preview all these files smoothly on the computer
monitor.

H. Encore builds a DVD but DVDs are not HD, so obviously Encore
down-converted them for DVD.

I. But, since my intermediate files are still HD, when I get to
Blu-ray (someday) I am expecting Encore to write full HD to the Blu-ray
disk.

Subject: Re: [AP] easiest export settings for high def file?

Do you playback rendered hi def seq....especially the 2-pass VBR
files in PP for review? And do they playback cleanly?

I do believe that part of problem is that I'm using Windows Media
Player to view finished projects and it may not have all the high def
drivers it needs to play correctly

Still, I've tried playback in Qtime and within PP and both have
issues. This seems to be more of playback issue than anything else,
but this may reflect that the project settings aren't matched up well
with the Canon HV 30 camcorder and the export seetings.
