Hi!
I'm Pinaki, from Kolkata (India), your friend,
have a query,
please reply if you know.
Apart from video editing I love (it's also my profession) to design
3D models through 3DS MAX and I use Photoshop and many more for
creating motion graphics. My query is now- Is there any plug-in to be
used with premiere pro that allows to import 3D Models created in 3D
apps (may be various 3D formats as there are converters to convert 3D
formats) to create 3D transitions and effects? Possibly all of you
know there is a standalone titling software Bluff Titler (http://
www.outerspace-software.com/blufftitler.html -visit if you don't
know) allows to import 3D models in directex formats, in short 3D
files with an extension of .x. I generally export a model in
either .wrl or .3ds from 3DS MAX 2009, then convert it to directex
format through AccuTrans software, a popular 3D file converter. Next
I Import the model in Bluff Titler and Animate it give it special
effect to create titles or even graphics also. Another standalone
titler Video Fun Box allows direct .3ds import. If there were a
plugin for premiere with such facility it would be great. For example
avid liquid chrome xe 7.0's Hollywood FX plugin allows such import,
though in Lightwave 5.x 3D format but it is possible there. I know a
plugin for premiere "Debugmode WAX" that allows import .3ds but it
has many problems that is why I don't use it. Due to the availability
of such a plugin I use boris RED 4.2 to create such effects. But
Boris also has some deficiencies such as splines are extruded to
create 3D and consume huge render time. One thing I do- animate a 3D
transition or 3D effect or 3D PIP in MAX render it with a sequencial
still image files with transparency then import the image sequence in
Boris RED. And it consumes disk space considerably and time
stretching is possible as Boris does not support it. So I mannually
assign time for each effect and store time limit in about box of each
effect in Boris. The entire hazard would be eradicated if there were
an available plugin module for premiere to do the job. Do you know
such a plugin?
