Matt & Barry:
Old Premiere Pro (1.5??) used to have SteadiMove from 2D3
included. I got PP 2.0 and bought SteadiMove as a plug-in, but 2D3
dropped the product.
I toyed with the IS in AE, but the little I could tell it is a highly
manual (but very capable) system where you basically keyframe points
that AE then stabilizes. (I could be wrong on that since I didn't
try very long).
After that try I bought Mercalli from ProDAD in Germany. I just
upgraded to v2.0 which includes a supposed fix for "rolling shutter"
artifacts (that my Z7 unfortunately shows...) Mercalli is fairly
configurable, but is mostly automatic. you set the amount of
stabilization and what types of motion you want it to remove (or
leave alone) then you let it rip. 2 versions: plug-in + standalone
for $199 US, standalone for $119 US.
