Hello,
I am still on CS4 and my camera (Sony NX5) creates AVCHD files. I've been able
to get by so far with m2ts footage in Premiere, but now I have some footage
that requires a lot of editing, so I purchased Neoscene to convert the files
for easier manipulation.
I have a couple of questions!
* I set up the Premiere sequence as specified in an article I found on
Cineform's website. But I am just wondering, is this still considered "AVCHD"
footage once it's been converted, or something else? The article/help files
have very little information.
* I see a lot of interlacing/combing on the converted footage - should I
deinterlace all the footage at conversion (this is an option in the Cineform
preferences)? I don't have to do this when importing the m2ts files.
* My camera can record audio in Linear PCM or Dolby AC3 format. Early on, I
discovered that Premiere cannot play the audio if I set it to Linear PCM
(figured this out in a previous post here, confirming it with other NX5 users).
So I set the audio to AC3. This imports fine into Premiere when I bring in the
m2ts footage. But, when I have converted the files with Neoscene, the audio
again is just an electronic buzz in the converted files. I don't see any audio
settings at all in the Neoscene prefs. (I can play the converted footage in
Windows Media player; the audio is there but it's delayed so that's no good
either!) I could get the audio from the unconverted footage instead, but this
is an extra step I'd prefer to avoid. Is this a Premiere issue?

Thanks for any help!
Alexandra
