I'm using Adobe Premiere on a MacBook Pro. Operating system OSX 10.5.8; 4G of
RAM.

The type of camera I'm transferring from is a Panasonic AJ-900 HD, but that
shouldn't matter in this case.

I have a FireWire cable connected directly from the camera to the MacBook Pro.

When I open the capture window, it shows "format error". I know what it wants,
but where do I find the codec settings so I can dial in 1080i60?

Final Cut Pro has all the relevant settings on one page for Capture; Playback;
sequence, etc. and is easily found.

Premiere has a choice between 'HDV' & 'SD' and settings for manufacturer &
device model number. Those are a go.

BTW, Adobe tells me that once you select the 'HDV' setting, the connection
should just go through. Obviously, it doesn't

On the same computer with the same FireWire cable is my FCP application. It
just works once you get the settings correct. Therefore it has to be a Premiere
setting. I'm not yet aware of where to find these settings or how to set them,
however.

Adobe wants $34 to tell me. (Will any one do it for 34ยข ? :-)

THANKS!
