I'd assume the 4GB breaks are seamless, same as the 2GB breaks were on ye olde
Media100 on a pre-OS X Mac system if you had a VTR with a TBC and RS-242 remote
control. If you didn't have that hardware it'd just quit upon hitting 2GB. Hard
coded limit in the M100 *capture* function. The *export* side fully supported
HFS+ unlimited file sizes on OS9, even the 2.6.2 version that (IIRC) predated
OS8.1 and the introduction of HFS+. Yay! Forward compatibility! (I'd like to
find some ResEdit guru to poke around in the app to see if the capture limit
could be removed. I still have a NuBus M100 setup.)

With FAT32 the 4GB limit only applies to NT family versions of Windows, leaving
out NT4 and older because they don't support FAT32. With FAT32 on Windows 95
OSR2 through Windows Me, the file size limit is 2GB. (That's their file size
limit, period, even when a read/write driver for NTFS is installed.)
