Normally I export (either directly or via AME) from Premiere Pro and use
that file as an import in Encore. But I thought to try a new (to me)
technique, as follows:

I have two similar Premiere Pro CS 5.5 projects to be put on one DVD.
Premiere is closed. Encore is open. From Encore I used Encore’s Adobe
Dynamic Link > Import Premiere Pro Sequence command, navigated to the
projects, and selected the appropriate sequences within them. They both
imported nicely into Encore. I did the menu thing leaving Photoshop open,
connected the buttons, tested via Preview, etc., then did the build.

The first Encore timeline built in a normal fashion, but the second timeline
hung about ¼ of the way through. I went out to get a wheelbarrow wheel fixed
and came back – still hung. CPU usage was at 0%. I cancelled the build, but
it wouldn’t cancel, or close, so I had to use the OS to kill it.

Then I thought to restart the computer (to minimize memory shortages),
started only Encore, and retried the build. Same symptoms.

Not wanting to waste more time, I went back to Premiere Pro and exported
both project/sequences to files, imported those files into the same Encore
project, fixed the linkages, and did the build. No problem; the build worked
and the DVD was made.

Has anyone else tried an Encore build using PPro projects imported via
Dynamic Link in this fashion, with success?

Lee
