For those interested in the technology behind the Lytro:

I haven't read it yet, so am still in the dark about how each pixel
in a sensor can record more than just red, green, and blue light intensity.
One possible advantage of a light-field camera is similar to using
multiple exposures for a single frame of increased contrast range: if
you have information in a frame to bring each element into focus, you
might effectively be able to eliminate depth of field and, after some
rendering, put everything, near and far, into focus even in low light.
I'd get behind that in a hurry.
