I didn't know this and I agree this sucks.

And I'm sorry that I can't help you. I will check how my older HDV 
mp4 footage plays in Quicktime though, maybe I'm dealing with the 
same problem without knowing it.

By the way speaking of Apple products, just got this spam in my 
mailbox for a Pandigital iPad clone, 7 inch, 70 euro, that's about $93 :-)

I honestly believe that Apple has had its best time.
