Hello Esther,

Congratulations on joining the ranks of Video Editors.

1/ Your camera is a great one. From extreme close up to zoom. I have one, and
in company with a DSLR I seem to have all bases covered.
2/ I have looked at Elements when people have asked my opinion about it. The
things about editing software is that the one you get used to is the one you
swear is the best.....Otherwise the basic principles (be it transitions,
‘cutaways', audio etc) are common to all, and no ‘NLE’ program will make a
better film than another...That is in your hands.
Perhaps the effective difference between Elements and pro, is that the first
tends to think for you (and does it well), whereas the most of us on this forum
using Prem Pro are stubborn enough to want to tell the program what to do
....and make all the mistakes for ourselves.

Nevertheless, maybe later, you could experiment with, say, Prem Pro CS5, which
was a breakthrough point for Adobe and you might pick up a copy cheap
now.....But you will not make better films with it....that is up to the
operator.

3/ An up to date and powerful computer is essential for your enjoyment or
frustrations will occur. Editing is the biggest soaker-up of computer ‘grunt’..
As someone pointed out.

4/ I am up to 7 G-grandkids ( to 10 years of age.) So a lot older than
you....Therefore you have many years of film making enjoyment/frustration
ahead of you.

Kelvin
