There's been a Quadro version of most of the various GeForce chips. Some
GeForce boards can be modified to put the GPU into Quadro mode. That works best
for the GPUs where the GeForce and Quadro are identical dies.
A gaming GPU doesn't have to render things 100% perfectly all the time, so it
can crank up the speed and if something gets lost in a frame, no big deal
because it's a game and nobody is going to notice.
The Quadro versions make sure they render everything, even if they have to slow
down some to do it.
