Hello fellow TSMers,
we would like to centralise all TSM operations and restrict clients
usage of the backup/archive client. While trying to initiate restore
from the server for a client ( we're testing this setup currently ), I
issued the following command from the server's administrative client's
command line :

RES -FROMNODE=CLTNT01 -PICK -INACTIVE "C:\DATA\*.*" "C:\DATA\"

The server returned this message :

ANS1084E NO FILES HAVE PREVIOUSLY BEEN BACKED UP FOR 'C:\DATA\'.

However, if the command RES -FROMNODE=CLTNT01 -PICK -INACTIVE,
I was able to view all versions of the backup taken. Firstly, is it
possible to initiate a restore from the server end on behalf of the
client node ? If so, what other customisation is needed. Secondly, we
have a 12 hr backup window from 7pm - 7 am and all clients are set to
poll. The clients are set to poll at 1 hr intervals, however, I noticed
that it takes a long while ( sometimes hours ) before the clients
actually initiate the backup processes. Does anyone know why ?

Thank You
Bernard Chng
