Only way I've seen is, if you have 300 tapes, get 300 slots in your vault
and number them accordingly.
I guess, when you checkout and checkin the volumes, you could run the volume
names into some script which keeps track of things - it'd mean some manual
entry on the check-in when they come BACK from the vault... and things would
be bound to get out of sync so you'd have to do an inventory every know and
then...
Who else has this problem? RSVP,

we are scanning tapes before sending it to offsite and operators are using
some
software to keep track of the offsite tapes.
