Eurodis,
I want to answer this question to see if we can both get more insight from
others. I have been running TSM on NT for a few years now and I have seen
that all of my disk pool volumes fill evenly not one at a time. I have seen
this, I believe, even when only one node is backing up.
Now I have heard other things. I heard someone on AIX saw that one node
would write to one volume and then the next node would write to a new volume
but one node wouldn't split its data between two until it fills one. Now
I'm not saying this is true its just what I heard.
I also heard that in some platforms it just fills one volume and then goes
onto the next. Maybe Richard or one of the IBM engineers could shed a
little light on this?

Subject: Diskpool parallization
I am planning the extension of the diskpool on my TSM Server. Today the TSM
Server has one 100 GB diskpool volume. After the extension the TSM Server
will have two 100 GB volumes.
Here comes the question: Will TSM fill one volume first and than use the
next volume OR (which would be better) will it use both volumes in parallel?
I cannot get a clear answer on this question out of the manuals.
Thank you very much for your help.
