Im struggling with an ibm3494 that has two 3590 tape drives..
Server is h70, aix4.3.3, tsm4.1.1

I have a bunch of unlabelled tapes.. type J.. I check them into the tape
library by selecting checin unlabelled volumes from the commands menu on
the ibm3494 console.. I enter the labels in and their types.. the 3494 then
goes and pulls them all in and stores them in slots.. looks great. Check the
database and sure enough all the tapes are checked in..

Then over to TSM 4.1.1.. this is where Im having problems. What command do
I use to check in the tapes so TSM can use them? Got my library defined, my
drives, my devclass.. no probs. From the aix prompt I can query stuff
regarding the library using mtlib..

When I do a label libvol command it grabs the tape from the slot, the
robotic arm moves a bit and then the whole 3494 goes into pause mode. Why I
dont know.. there are some messages about it not being able to release the
tape from the gripper but the arm never really got to a spot where it would
want to release the tape (i.e. its not pointing at the tape drive or any
slots)..

When I do a checkin command it either checks in 0 tapes, or once it did the
same as the label libvol command above.. so I question whether I have the
format right even though I think I do..

Any suggestions or help? At the very least Id like to verify Im doing
things in the correct order here and using the correct command to checkin
the tapes..

Thanks,
