I've installed six or seven Solaris TSM servers. Everyone knows my awesome
UNIX capabilities. Legendary, at least in my mind. I love it. The install
is very clean. The performance is great. I have not experienced many if
any problems with the code once installed and configured.
I've worked on sites with both STK and 3494 libraries and no problems with
drivers except at one site where they were running 2.8 in 64bit mode. No
STK drivers for that so don't try it. Simply backed off to 32 bit Solaris
and no problems.
We're going to build a STORServer (our bundled TSM solution) on Solaris next
spring.

Subject: TSM on Solaris
We are currently running ADSM on an AIX server but AIX is no more a
possible choice in the company. We have 3494 tape libraries.
So I am trying to decide whether to implement Tivoli Storage Manager on the
SUN Solaris platform.
Has anyone experienced the difference running TSM on the SUN Solaris
platform in term of system performance, capacity,
scalability, security, support, stability, etc. Your feelings, opinions,
rational decision, and feedback are greatly appreciated.
Thanks
