That is a religious question I will avoid and refer you to the list
archives where this has been discussed before www.adsm.org

I will comment that I do have a customer with 2 80GB ADSM databases
(5 TSM servers all told) running on AIX and I have made repeated
attempted to recommend splitting the ADSM databases in half and
run them side by side on the same RS6K (since they won't buy new
hardware).

Subject: TSM Database Size

We are currently expereincing some slowdown on our nightly backups.
Here is my envronment:

Windows NT Server 4.0
Compaq Proliant Quad Xeon 450 512 MB RAM
TSM 3.7.3.6
150 GB Hard Disk Array
4 drive AIT-2 ADIC Scalar 1000

Our Current DB is 40% of 30GB.
We backup roughly 120 GB each night from about 115 nodes. About 30 of the
nodes backup between 200,000 - 1,000,000 files nightly and the rest of the
nodes backup between 1,000 - 15,000 files.

How big is "too" big for a DB on NT? Should we look at AIX or Sun?
What is the biggest DB anybody out there has on NT? How well is it
performing?
