All the points made so far are good ones.  Well almost all.

On the one hand you say you're a solaris shop.
Then I would think it easy to run there to begin with and see  how it
goes.  You can always 'recycle' the SUn box and switch to AIX/RS6K.

On the other hand there's been a few times where new function appeared
on the AIX ADSM before non-IBM platforms.  Do you bleed or trail in
technology?   Even being a non-Aix shop is moot when using *SM on an AIX
box because it needs little OS upkeep.   We run on  3466(AIX) and with IBM
managing the OS for me (once a year) I find I just need to learn a
superficial amount of AIX (more unix learning) to do things 'around' ADSM
to support it on the box.
