     You might want to manually set the environment variables.  From a dos
command prompt, adjust your server code location to the following, enter :
set DSMSERV_CONFIG=c:\progra~1\ibm\adsm\adsmnt\server\dsmserv.opt
and
set DSMSERV_DIR=c:\progra~1\ibm\adsm\adsmnt\server
Now, try your dsmserv command.

Yes , and still get the same error message.  ADSM is installed and
functioning.  I have to restore an SAP R/3 database and can't get past this
part.

Did you start the server from the server directory?
Is the file in the server directory?
