Yes, this can be done. You will export the server information and import
that on the new server. You will then export all the client data, backup
and archive and then import that on the new server. You might consider
cabling the 3494 and drives to server1 for the export. Then you can cable
it back (or share it) to server2 and do the import. Alternatively, you
could export to the 3575 and then cable that to server2. Bottom line you
probably want to use tape for the export/import. You could use a file
device class in your shark but perhaps you don't have enough room there for
that. Lots of data probably.

You can give me jingle and we can talk about this more if you like.

Subject: ADSM Migration

Scenario

ADSM Server with 3575 / model 18 Library, DRM in use and offsite archival.
full details can be supplied later if required)

ADSM Server 2 with 15 Bay 3494 Shark array storage, DRM in use with offsite
archival. Fore runner for S80 ADSM server with 3494 to come in 2001.

Requirement is to migrate all backups and archives from server1 to server 2
then move clients over to the new server.

My question: from the books it appears I can export from one server and
import into another but this effectively archives the backups ( non expiring
copies ) from what I understand. What I need to do is to move across all the
data with the associated rules, expirations etc. hopefully with media
conversion from 3575 to the 3590. Can this be done, If so how or am I being
to ambitious.

TIA
