The odm definitions changed from 3.7.2 to 3.7.3 and above.
Instead of showing up as tape they are now defined adsmtape.
You should remove the old mtX definitions with the command
rmdev -dR mtX
Do this for each mtX device. Then redefine them through smitty.
Once you do you should see them from running the command
lsdev -Cc adsmtape
