You can't move the database. You will have to export from your existing
server and import to the new one.
The best way to do that is to export to tape, move that tape to the new
server and import. If you have the luxury, you can cable both systems to
the library and do that. Most sites can't, so do your exports, move the
library to the new system, define it, etc. and import data from the tapes.
Alternatively, simply install TSM on the new platform, configure it and move
your clients to that platform by changing option files. This will force a
full backup of all your systems. Then let all the data on your two OS/400
platforms simply expire. If you have reasonable retention policies this
should only take a couple of months. To speed it along, you can export
archive data and import it on the new server.
Export/import can be time consuming, especially if you have tapes outside
the library so minimize the amount of that that you do.
I answered this same question very recently. You might check the archives.
I was perhaps more lucid earlier in the day. Before the scotch, you know...

Subject: database moving
Hi,
I am currently running two TSM servers. Both servers are on the AS/400 and
are
version V3R1L1.7. I am moving (finally!) to a single NT TSM server. I will
put
the latest TSM server on the box, but am willing to start at a lower release
level if it helps my conversion. My question is two part. First, can and
how
do a move a database from the AS/400 to NT and second, is there a way to
move
both databases to the same NT server?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Rob Schroeder
