Since there are spaces in the file name, you need to use double quotes
around it, as such:

exclude "d:\software\win32app\Microsoft Site
Server\Data\Publishing\Catalog.wci\...\*"

The other alternative is to use the DOS name for the directory:

exclude d:\software\win32app\Micros~1\Data\Publishing\Catalog.wci\...\*
