but any sort of "move data" or migration from one pool to another would be
no different than the basic creation of the data with the "backup stg
primarypool copypool" command.
No matter what you are going to have to "read from one volume and write to
another".
I'd just put in the new stuff, create a NEW copypool using the new hardware,
then perform the "backup stg".
NOTE ! DON'T BLOW AWAY YOUR OLD COPY POOL PRIOR TO GETTING A CLEAN, NEW COPY
!
you might find a bad primary pool volume and need to restore it from the old
copypool prior to being able to complete your new copypool...

Subject: MOVE data to new copy pool

Greetings,

We are trying to upgrade the tape media associated with a backup copy pool
from DLT to STK 9840 or 9940.

It appears that you cannot create a hierarchy within a copy pool, and do a
transparent migration from one copy pool to another.
It also appears that you cannot MOVE DATA from one copy storage pool to
another copy storage pool.

Has anyone attempted this kind of data migration, and if so how was it
accomplished with out having to recopy all of the data from the primary
storage pool to the copy storage pool?

Thanks to anyone for any input to this problem.
