That would not work as I don't know the old password. Passwords get automatically forced to update from the storage server end periodically and the only place they are "known" is in the encrypted registry entry.
I know, this is an old one, but I finally found the command to migrate the passwords stored in the registry into the new tsm.kdb files without knowing the actual node-password:
