My allocated log space is 5416 and I can't even extend with a small amount (1MB). Once this limit is reached (see below), is there any other way to bring up the database, besides a full restore ? The ADSM Administrator's Guide mentions a recovery log size limit of 5.5GB. But somewhere else (I can't find if offhand) I am sure that I saw the limit expressed is MB and it was between 5400 and 5500. So you should be able to increase the log by at least 100 MB which will be plenty to get the server up and running again. Try extending it by a smaller amount, say 100MB.
