You didn't give us any perspective on whether this is a new
tape system implementation or whether it had been running
successfully for some time.  The errors look very fundamental,
like the Atape device driver has not been installed in your
operating system or the cabling is not attached or the drive
is turned off - something like that.  Take a step-by-step look
at your implementation.
