Return Codes:

Applicable Component Level/SU:

Error Description:
The Win32 client at 3.1.0.7 introduced a new performance
monitoring function which includes the files:
dsmperf.dll
perfctr.ini
dsmccnm.h
In some cases, this is not installed properly and can have 2

separate results:
1. The NT Event Viewer - Application Log shows PERFLIB 1011
    error against dsmcperf.dll (DWORD0)
This only occurs if the customer tries to open the NT
    Performance Monitor
2. Same error in the form of an NT Error Box on boot.
In this case, there are registry entries missing under the
    Hkey_Local_Machine > system > currentcontrolset > services >
    ADSM Client Performance > performance.
The entries are "First Counter", "First Help", "Last Counter
    ", "Last Help"
.

Local Fix:
>From the \tsm\baclient subdir, issue the commands:
1. unlodctr "TSM Client Performance"
2. lodctr perfctr.ini
This will eliminate the error messages
.
If this does not elimate the problem, go to the following
registry entry, and delete the 'open' and 'library' key.

.
***** CAUTION ***** The registry editor is very
unforgiving, as changes may not be undone. Errors
made in editing the registry may cause your
system to malfunction, and may even render it
unbootable. Therefore we recommend that you
exercise the utmost care in editing the registry.
If you are unfamiliar with using the registry
editor, then ask someone else who is familiar
with the registry editor to help you.

Subject: TSM Client Error

Good morning everyone. I'm wondering if anyone has experienced the
following error?

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Perflib
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1011
Date: 06/01/2001
Time: 01:37:01
User: N/A
Computer: MTLK15
Description:
The library file ""dsmcperf.dll"" specified for the "TSM Client Performance"
service could not be opened. Performance data for this service will not be
available. Status code is data DWORD 0.
Data:
0000: 7e 00 00 00 ~...

This error occurs on various Windows NT 4.0 client systems (server and
workstation) and in a number of different versions within ADSM/TSM from v3.x
to v4.x. All clients are running against an ADSM 3.7.x host on an MVS
OS/390 (hope I have the MF "lingo right") platform (shortly moving to AIX on
RS/6K). This error shows up in the WNT Event Viewer and appears in an
annoying dialog box upon service start , but does not appear to affect the
successful operation of client or host. Previous document research has been
unsuccessful to date. Any insight would be very appreciated. Thank you.
