Yes, RLV will increase performance. By how much, I cannot quantify
that. I use RLVs for any large TSM implementation on AIX.

Subject: Changing filesystem type for diskpool and database/log

Hi *SM-ers!
I will have my SSA disks replaced in the near future. I'm currently
using
the following configuration: 8 SSA disks (9 Gb. each): 2 disk AIX
mirrored,
containing the database and recovery log and 6 disks for the diskpool,
all
on JFS filesystems.
The SSA disks will be replace by 36 Gb. 10.000 rpm disks.
What if I put them on raw logical volumes? Will this improve
performance? If
so, how much? Are there any downsides?
Thanks in advance for any reply!!
Kindest regards,
