A truly vast array of factors influence aggregate throughput. I haven't done much Sun TSM server work, but I have seen *single node* backup in excess of 10MB/s to an E250, which is a pretty minimal Sun server (maxing out a single 100MB ethernet, all I had at the time). Your numbers are drastically too low.

I am attempting to determine the upper threshold for the aggregate data
transfer rate on clients backing up to a TSM server running on a SUN
Solaris
TSM server. It has been my experience thus far that this ranges somewhere
between 800 Kb/sec (on the low end) up to 2400 Kb/sec (on the high end). I
am hoping that there are other sites that are experiencing better
performance. Any statistical data along these lines would be greatly
appreciated.
