This depends on what you want to do with backupsets and how much space do
you have in the library.
If you are constrained in library slots - there is no other option than to
check backupsets out. If you want to use them for long term archives and/or
send them off-site - same answer. If you want to use them for LAN-free
restore - again check them out.
But if you want to use them for collocation on single filespace(s) or for
archives with short retension (and have enough space in library) - keep
them.
So in very rare circumstances there is benefit not to check backupsets out
of the library.

Subject: Backupset question

Hi

I want to try the backupset feature. What will be the correct process, as I
understand for local restore I need to run GENERATE BACKUPSET and if I want
to keep one on the server I need to run DEFINE BACKUPSET.

After a generate backupset what I need to do (checkout libvol !!!!!)

If any of you did it already I will appreciate the help.
