Normally only the log filling up will cause a crash. Have you restarted the server in CONSOLE mode?
Instead of starting rc.adsmserv, CD into the server directory and start it this way: ./dsmserv & That way instead of dsmserv starting in QUIET mode, it will be running in your current AIX window, and you will see the error messages it issues as it tries to come up. Report those back to us, they are usually helpful... -----Original Message----- From: Anthony Lanni [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, December 04, 2001 2:37 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: ADSM server crash Ok; I'm running ADSM 3.7.2.0 on AIX 2.4; the server died with a core dump, and we can't get it restarted - it crashed out each time. several of the drives that the database volumes live on have hit 100%; we suspect this as the problem, but we can't allocate more space to the database since the server won't start... anyone know why it would crash just because the dbvols filled or the disks filled up? I understand that processes would die, but not the server itself... I'll be happy to answer any further questions you all may have to help clear this up. thanks in advance, Anthony Lanni ------------------------------------- FROM errpt -a on the AIX box: --------------------------------------------------------------------------- LABEL: CORE_DUMP IDENTIFIER: C60BB505 Date/Time: Tue Dec 4 11:16:13 Sequence Number: 185734 Machine Id: 000173314C00 Node Id: judas Class: S Type: PERM Resource Name: SYSPROC Description SOFTWARE PROGRAM ABNORMALLY TERMINATED Probable Causes SOFTWARE PROGRAM User Causes USER GENERATED SIGNAL Recommended Actions CORRECT THEN RETRY Failure Causes SOFTWARE PROGRAM Recommended Actions RERUN THE APPLICATION PROGRAM IF PROBLEM PERSISTS THEN DO THE FOLLOWING CONTACT APPROPRIATE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE Detail Data SIGNAL NUMBER 6 USER'S PROCESS ID: 15356 FILE SYSTEM SERIAL NUMBER 6 INODE NUMBER 32797 PROGRAM NAME dsmserv.42 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION pthread_k 150 ??
