We recently installed an IBM3584 using LTO, our old 3575 libraries are using magstar, I moved two tapepools (about 350 tapes) from magstar to LTO using the mov data volume# stg=newstgpoolname, backed up the new tapepool, then deleted the tapecopy pool. Then deleted the old stgpool. It does take some time, but it's better than trying to let the data expire. I just wanted to get rid of the old libraries ASAP.

The easiest way is to define the servers into the new pool and let the other data expire on it own. It will take a while depending on how much the data changes, but you will be there for a while anyways to move all that data.
