Same problem here. Our hot site has different hardware as well. Thank
you for the information.

Happy Holidays.

MS has an article on "How to move a Windows 2000 installation to
Different
Hardware", but it uses NTbackup to move the System Objects.

I am in the process of testing this procedure using TSM on different
hardware.

There is a redpiece on W2K restores (SG24-6141-00) that is pretty good
that
is for situations when you restore back to the same hardware.

I am testing DR situations where we would have to restore W2K servers to
a
hot site that didn't have "exactly" the same hardware.

Is there any information out there about bare metal restores for Windows
2000 Server?

I have read it is similar to the baremetal for NT4, however what I am
looking for how find out that registry keys I need to adjust if
restoring on to a box that is has hardware that is not the same. With
NT4 I can get around it because all hardware information is stored in
the root of C. But 2000 server the hardware is stored in the registry
and I am just wondering if there are any other areas that would also
have this information hidden.

Thanks
